Marston Farm
Contemporary architectural proposals enable us to benefit from modern well insulated building fabric, light filled living spaces and a more flexible flow of space suitable for subdivided and adaptable open ground floor accommodation. In this case our proposal was to combine the traditional agricultural and residential silhouette of neighbouring buildings, with a comfortable modern farmhouse plan that was able to benefit from atrium lit ground floor living accommodation and generous first floor ensuite bathrooms.
The projected running and upkeep costs of the proposal were also substantially lower than a similarly sized traditional building. The long-term impact of such a proposal is far less compared to a similar project thirty years ago. This project involved the surveying of existing barns, access and site constraints before we designed a bespoke 5 bedroom farmhouse. The house was designed to fit in with a rural environment and garden landscaping.
Agricultural farm building surveys have been carried by the practice as part of the planned works.
